"Dom...tells us what it was like to be involved in the next big thing to Harry Potter?"
Lord of the Rings : Behind the scenes on one of the years biggest movies with Dominic Monaghan
The classic Tolkien tale of hobbits and elves is coming to a cinema near you in spectacular fantasy style. Dominic Monaghan, who plays Meriadoc Brandybuck, tells us what it was like to be involved in the next big thing to Harry Potter.
What was the best thing about making the film? The fact that we all went through this incredible experience together. I made some great friends - Billy Boyd (who plays Pippin), Ian McKellan (Gandalf the Grey) and Orlando Bloom (Legolas Greenleaf). I also became very good friends with Sean Bean (Boromir) - he's bonkers, you know!
So did you hang out with Liv Tyler at all? Yeah, we became really good mates - I think cos her fiance's from Leeds and I'm from Manchester. We hung out in the bars in Wellington, New Zealand. She's great.
Were your mates really jealous? Yeah I think they were a bit, but a couple of them got to meet her cos they were out there at the same time. Even though Liv has had an exceptional life and done things that most people her age haven't, at the end of the day she's still just a normal girl, you know.
Are you looking forward to being a megastar? I don't really know what comes with it. It's never happened to me before and it's not something I've always gone crazy for. The reason I act is because I like acting; it's not because I ever wanted to be famous. But if it happens, then it happens and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
