Romeo and Juliet is Bringing Out the Young Theatre Lovers…and Special Guests Too!

Posted by Sean Fitzpatrick

The NAC English Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet has been playing to packed houses since opening last week. What’s even more exciting is that not only young people and stars are on stage – we’ve seen them in the audience as well!

High school, university and college students have been heading to the production in big numbers to catch this classical production. It has been wonderful to see so many young people heading out and enjoying the theatre, many of the ones I’ve spoken to are mentioning how great it is to see actors around their age on stage. A number of them have been taking advantage of Live Rush and twittering about the production afterwards.

And a special treat this past Tuesday, Dominic Monaghan, who Lost fans will recognize as Charlie – one of the central figures in the hugely popular TV series, was in the audience for a performance. After the performance, Mr. Monaghan took time out to meet with the company of Romeo & Juliet, and talked them about the production. He was as thrilled with the play as much as the Company was to meet up with him. He said in LA, he doesn’t get to see much theatre, so to see Romeo & Juliet was great!

Romeo & Juliet, featuring the NAC English Theatre Company and the 50th Anniversary graduating class from the National Theatre School, plays until November 6!
