That is one cheeky face you have, mischief practically dances in your eyes ...
I do like to have a laugh but I think that was kind of the role of the hobbits. Towards the end of the shoot one of the girls on camera said - and she'd been there for the whole time - she said that on the first day, it was like a little tornado came on the set when the four of us hit the place, because we got to know each other so well. I think we did take on the role of keeping the energy up, you know.

What about you and Dominic (Monaghan, who plays Pippin's best friend Merry)? You look very natural together.
Yeah as soon as we met actually we knew that there was some kind of special friendship and I think of him as one of my great friends now. He arrived quite late, about a week after me and Elijah and Sean. We already knew each other quite well and we were quite worried about this new guy coming in but he arrived, had a wardrobe test and then he said to me 'Do you wanna go and get a game of pool?' and I thought 'Hey' I'm like 'I think I like this guy already.' So we went with a couple of beers and played some pool. Yeah, we just knew. When someone's on the same wavelength as you, especially with comedy, it just makes it so much easier. We know totally what the other one's doing and we're really supportive as well which is a great thing you get from another actor. When you're failing and you know you're failing and he's there to pick you back up, it's a great thing.

What about Dominic, was he the same?
Strangely enough I think Dom auditioned before me and I think at the point Hobbit wise, I think everybody was just auditioning for Frodo so I think he may have auditioned for Frodo first.

Not many actors seem to have read it beforehand, which is odd for a book that seems to have been everywhere and been so popular for so long
Yeah it's weird, eh? Dom did. Dom grew up with it. His dad's a teacher and he used to read him the book and then they had it on tape so when they were driving around they used to hear it so it's been in Dom's life forever.
