14/12/2005 12:21 Famous Fan: Lost Red hopes for title race rescue Lost Star Hopes Reds Can Rescue Their Title Challenge
Dominic Monaghan always keeps a close eye on his beloved United, even if he's thousands of miles away in Hawaii where he's filming the second series of TV show Lost.
The 29-year-old actor, who spent his teenage years in Heaton Moor, Stockport, plays the part of rock star Charlie Pace. Previously, he shot to fame as Merry in the Lord of the Rings movies.
Dominic emailed ManUtd.com this week with his thoughts on United's festive fixtures...
>>"So another festive season is here again and a sack of points are up for grabs.
"With the crushing result in Europe against Benfica all eyes are on the Premiership now. I have a sneaking suspicion that Chelsea are going to slip up at some point and the best we can do is keep up our league form.
"A top of the table clash against Wigan is an unlikely contest, and I have to confess to being impressed with their performance up to now. Having never met Wigan before I hope United greet them in typical fashion by thrashing them 3-0!
"Ruud and Rooney seem to be firing on all cylinders and I have been very impressed with Giggsy and Alan Smith this season. But I have to give a special Christmas mention to Paul Scholes who put in virtually faultless displays against Charlton and Portsmouth. He rarely gives the ball away, passes like a god and has been controlling the pace and imagination of the team (along with Wayne) tirelessly week in, week out.
"I will be in Costa Rica for Christmas and New Year with my family, surfing as much as possible. I entertained the Lost cast last Wednesday and kept replaying Ruud's goals against Charlton over and over again, whilst repeating "that's my mate, that's my mate!"
"It's all shaping up to be an exciting 2006.... Merry Christmas. Lost Mancunian. Out."<< Dominic can be seen in Lost every Wednesday and Sunday on Channel 4 and E4.
