Money
The site is currently run without revenue from advertising text or banners, except for images from FotoGlif which require their banner adds to be loaded beside their photos. While the site is created and run with free, open source software whenever possible, hosting and bandwidth are paid for out of pocket. Many of the photos in the Image section are licenced at $5 a photo. Transcriptions of audio and video are also often paid for. Donations to help dissipate these costs are welcome.
