The writer/director of The Red Robin, Michael Wechsler is asking for funding from Kickstarter for post-production.
Kickstarter is a site that allows the public to donate "kickstart" money for various project in exchange for pledge gifts. Kickstarter works on an all or nothing system. If the pledge goal is met, funding goes forward and pledges are paid, and benefits are distributed. If not, nothing happens and those who pledged owe nothing.
There are benefits attached to contribution and they are cumulative (every higher pledge level receives all the benefits of the lower pledge levels). Here are just some of the benefits which that might interest a Dom fan most:
- $10,000 - A day on the set meeting cast and crew and executive producer credit.
- $5,000 - Two tickets to the LA or NY premiere.
- $3,000 - Set visit!
- $2,000 - A screening in your hometown.
- $1,500 - Autograph from the entire cast.
- $1,000 - Lunch or dinner with writer/director Michael Wechsler.
- $50 - DVD, after the theatrical run.
- $25 - Key chain duplicate prop.
- $20 - A thank you in the credit roll.
- $10 - Autograph of cast member.
- $1 - Exclusive access to live-streaming of the production on our website.
It's a fact that was missed by others posting this opportunity: pledging just one dollar will give you access to a live-stream from the production.
Now, how actual Dom that will included in that, who knows? One dollar is surely worth the risk and a look at the production. A pledge of one dollar from all the Dom fans following the DomResource Twitter account will bring in about $1,150 toward the project.
You can read about the project and the pledge benefits and make a pledge here. There are 35 days to go.
