Last year, Dom made an appearance on the premiere season of the US version of the BCC hit show Top Gear which airs on the cable channel History. On Tuesday, July 19th, at Top Gear: The Complete First Season will be released on DVD in the US and Canada.

In Episode 2, "Blind Drift," Dom participated in regular segment called "Big Star, Small Car" in which a celebrity is interviewed about their relationship with cars and takes a Suzuki SX4 Sportback through a set course. In his tightly edited interview with co-host Rutledge Wood, Dom discusses his 2005 Prius, his aptitude for acquiring parking tickets, his driver's license photos. Dom's time in the Suzuki was 1:45.3 beating Lost's Michelle Rodriguez, Ty Burrell (Modern Family) and astronaut Buzz Aldrin.


Despite the celebrity segments, the emphasis in Top Gear is firmly on the automobiles and the chemistry and friendly competition between the hosts, Wood, Tanner Foust and Adam Ferrara. Their undaunting commentary on vehicles ranges from serious car history (think MotorWeek) to "guy talk" (one car is described as "Angelina Jolie in knee-high boots with a riding crop"). The hosts may be respectfully setting times in the special edition Italian sports cars or racing in wetsuits and snorkels in family wagons filled with water. An anonymous race car driver in white, called Stig, sets lap times in top-of-the-line automobiles and, once, a tractor. There's a lot of truly beautiful driving footage and the penultimate episode is a special in which the hosts compete in aging trucks in the gorgeous wilderness of Alaska.

The full season is 10 hour time-slot episodes. Guests include Kid Rock, Brett Michaels, Tim Allen and Tony Hawk.  Features, alas, don't include any more Dom. They do include host-only webisodes and Pool Chat, in which the hosts discuss anything and everything by a hotel pool. The Alaska episode has host commentary.
